Go Local North Dakota Available!

People throughout North Dakota now have a free, fast, and easy way to find health services close to where they live. A new Web site called Go Local North Dakota: Discover Health Services Near You! provides information and links to hospitals, doctors, clinics, support groups, immunizations, home healthcare, and other programs and services people can use to find help for themselves and their loved ones. This brochure is available for distribution.

People can search for resources by county, by the type of service they want, or by a particular health topic. Services available on North Dakota Indian reservations are available as well as services for those living in the most rural areas of the state. Senior citizens needing health services will also find assistance through Go Local North Dakota. The Web site also contains a form for users to suggest new resources to add to the Go Local database.

Go Local North Dakota offers additional information and convenience because it is connected to MedlinePlus.gov, which is the health Web site of the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine .

If, for example, someone using Go Local North Dakota wants to learn about Alzheimer's Disease, they can click on Health Information and be taken to MedlinePlus.gov. Or, someone reading about Alzheimer's Disease on MedlinePlus.gov, can link to Go Local North Dakota to find Alzheimer's resources close to home. MedlinePlus.gov is available in English, Spanish and several other languages.

Go Local North Dakota is produced by the Harley E. French Library of the Health Sciences at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences and is funded in part with federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, under Contract No. NO1-LM-6-3503 with the University of Illinois at Chicago, Greater Midwest Region Office of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.

The dedication and hard work of the library staff greatly contributed to the creation of Go Local North Dakota. The Go Local team was composed of Judy Rieke, project director and the library's Assistant Director & Collection Management Librarian; Mary Markland, Southeast Clinical Campus Librarian, resource development and outreach coordinator for the Go Local project; and Michael Safratowich, Bibliographic Control Librarian, site development coordinator for Go Local. Special thanks go to Sarah Owens, Data Input Specialist.

The interest and support for the project demonstrated by librarians and staff from health organizations throughout the state was much appreciated and Go Local North Dakota welcomes their continued involvement.
CINAHL upgraded to Full Text

The library has upgraded its subscription to CINAHL(Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature). A search of the CINAHL database will now automatically retrieve more full text articles. Many of the articles retrieved are from journals to which the library did not previously subscribe. The platform is still EBSCOhost.

CINAHL with Full Text is the world's most comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 600 journals indexed in CINAHL. This authoritative file contains full text for many of the most used journals in the CINAHL index - with no embargo. Full-text coverage on some journals dates back to 1981.

If you encounter problems, or need assistance using the resource, please contact the reference desk 777-3994 or e-mail hflref@medicine.nodak.edu.
