SFX Demonstrations and National Library Week
Posted Monday, April 16, 2007, 11:48 am by Judy Rieke
There will be demonstrations of SFX in the library classroom on Tuesday April 17 at noon to help us celebrate National Library Week.  Come together with us@our library to learn about this new resource!

SFX allows you to link to full text articles from within other resources, such as databases and indexes.  An example is that if you search SCOPUS and find an article that you want to read, the SFX button will lead you to the full text, or at the least the options for obtaining the full text.

Information Sheets illustrating how SFX works with SCOPUS and CINAHL are available in the Help section of the library's web site under Instructional Guides.

Journal Cancellations
Posted Wednesday, October 5, 2005, 12:00 pm by Judy Rieke
Continuing increases in journal prices require that the Library of the Health Sciences again cancel some titles for the 2006 subscription year.  These are titles that have not been used much either in print or in electronic format.  Because of the low usage, it is cheaper for us to borrow an occasional article through Interlibrary Loan than continue to subscribe to the whole journal.  In addition, for 2006 we are able to move more titles to an online only status.  When we move titles to online only status it means that we will no longer receive the titles in print.

A list of affected journals is available by contacting Judy Rieke at jrieke@medicine.nodak.edu.  Please feel free to contact me by October 15 if you have objections or questions about the proposed cancellations.
Loansome Doc Changes
Posted Friday, June 3, 2005, 10:44 am by HEFL Webmaster
Loansome Doc users should be aware of some changes coming to the system on Monday June 5, 2005.  The most important change in this new version of Loansome Doc is that you will login using the email address from your Loansome Doc record.  For example, if your email address is yourname@medicine.nodak.edu, your user name to log into Loansome Doc will also be yourname@medicine.nodak.edu.  You will use the same password that you used for Loansome Doc previously.

If you can't remember the email address that you used in your registration, contact the Interlibrary Loan office at 777-2606, or send an e-mail message to:  ranisate@medicine.nodak.edu.  If you've forgotten your password, there will be a link to click on the Loansome Doc request screen to receive a new one.

The Interlibrary Loan staff will update your ILLiad account, so that your e-mail address will also be your username there.  Your Loansome Doc password and your ILLiad password will be the same.  Note:  If you change your password in Loansome Doc, please notify the Interlibrary Loan office, so that they can make the same change in ILLiad.

If you have problems, please contact the Interlibrary Loan office at 777-2606.

Other changes in Loansome Doc include an ordering screen that alerts you if the article is not yet available in print and if you have already ordered the document in the last 40 days.  You will also be alerted from the ordering screen if the article is available online for free.  There will be an Order Status feature and a My Account which will enable you to change your information as needed.

For more details about the changes consult Loansome Doc changes.
