A NEW VERSION (2007) OF SCIFINDER IS AVAILABLE NOW. IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED AN EARLIER VERSION, PLEASE UNINSTALL THE OLD VERSION AND INSTALL THE NEW VERSION.

Note: Access to this product is only available on the main UND - Grand Forks campus

Windows

1. Close all open programs.
2. If you already have a previous version of SciFinder Scholar Installed, you must first uninstall it!!! - To uninstall, Click your "Start" menu, go to "Programs" -> "SciFinder Scholar" -> UnInstall SciFinder Scholar.
3. Download the SciFinder Scholar Installation Program (download only available on the UND Grand Forks campus).
4. Save the file to your Desktop as "scifinder.exe".
5. Close your browser and double click on the "scifinder.exe" file on your Desktop.
6. When you see the SciFinder Scholar Setup, click next.
7. Accept default destination location by clicking next.
8. Choose Typical (default) as your setup type and click next.
9. Click "No" when asked if you have a disk labeled custom site files.
10. When prompted for a Program folder, click next.
11. The SciFinder toolbar is optional.
12. Close any open windows until you see a box stating that installation is complete then click "Finish".
13. The installation should now be complete (it may take a minute after clicking "Finish" for the installer to close).
14. To run the program select Start - Programs - SciFinder Scholar 2007 - SciFinder Scholar.
15. IMPORTANT: The UND campus shares 4 accesses with the NDSU campus so please log out when finished.

Macintosh OS X (10.3 and 10.4)

1. Download sfs2007.dmg to your Desktop or a Download folder (~14.1MB).  Note: download only available on the UND Grand Forks campus.
2. On some systems, Macintosh Disk Image Files (*.dmg) will automatically mount. If not, double click sfs2007.dmg to mount the disk image. (Macintosh Disk Image Files behave like a CD_ROM: they open an icon on your desktop)
3. Double click on the Desktop SciFinder Scholar icon.
4. Drag and drop the SciFinder Scholar Application Package (the SciFinder Scholar icon on the white button) into your Applications folder.
5. Download site.prf to your Desktop or a Download folder. (download only available on the UND Grand Forks campus)
6. highlight SciFinder Scholar 2007.
7. Use Action Menu and select Show Package Contents.
8. Open Contents Folder.
9. Drag and drop the site.prf file to the "MacOS" folder.
10. (Optional) Create a "SciFinder Scholar" alias for your Dock or Desktop.
11. IMPORTANT: The UND campus shares 4 accesses with the NDSU campus so please log out when finished.
